After all, the right guide can make your heart race, give you that ultimate rush of excitement and joy giving you a once in a life time experience you shall never forget.

TANZANIA

ARUSHA

ARUSHA, TANZANIA

Tanzania is home to some of Africa’s most alluring destinations

The Serengeti’s wildebeest migration along an infinite savanna; the incongruous snow of Mt Kilimanjaro – Africa’s tallest mountain at 5,895m (19,341ft); the crater bottom of Ngorongoro National Park teaming with wildlife; the Swahili coast and pristine beaches along the spice islands of Zanzibar where fishermen still plough the turquoise waters in traditional wooden sailboats; Selous – Africa’s largest protected area and larger than Switzerland; Ruaha and Katavi – insider tips for serious safari-goers; Mahale and Gombe – prime destinations for seeing chimpanzees in the wild.

Throughout, Tanzania offers travelers an array of options, set against the backdrop of a cultural mosaic. Tanzania’s coastline was a favored stop on ancient trading routes between the Indian sub-continent and the Middle-East. Spices, jewels and slaves once passed through, bringing with them a melange of cultural riches that remain today. The language of Swahili was born here, and old mosques, coral palaces and pearly-white beaches still remain. While most visitors head straight for the famed northern wildlife-watching circuit, followed by time relaxing on Zanzibar’s beaches, Tanzania has much more to offer anyone with the time and inclination to head off the beaten path.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park has some of the highest population density of elephants as compared to anywhere in Tanzania, and its sparse vegetation, strewn with baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and distinctive location to visit.

Located just a few hours drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for people travelling through the northern safari circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park extends into two game controlled areas and the wildlife is allowed to move freely throughout.

As well as 300-strong herds of elephant, visitors will find big groups of buffalo and healthy populations of lion and leopard. During the dry season, Tarangire has the highest concentration of mammals in the country. There are wild dog and rare antelope such as gerenuk, plus more than 550 species of birds to spot throughout the year.

Tarangire is the ideal park for those who want to explore beyond game drives. Walk through the savannah to study the smallest creatures and learn about tracking animals. Soar through the sky in a hot-air balloon at dawn or head out on a night drive to find nocturnal wildlife.

Ngorongoro Crater

tanzania

The main feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera.

It was named by the Maasai pastoralists after the sound produced by the cowbell (ngoro ngoro). This is a protected area and a world heritage site located 180Km west of Arusha.

It is home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five.It is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It’s a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grass plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water.

Ngorongoro crater is home to a large number of predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, as well as a large population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, cape buffalo, and more. It is truly one of Africa’s premier safari destinations.

When you get your first glimpse of this vast, verdant caldera from the panoramic viewpoint, you’ll soon understand why it has earned such a lofty reputation.
